“My name is James Robinson . I was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, and at just five years old, I saw my father murdered in front of me by a family member. That pain followed me into every part of my life. I struggled with anger, trust, and identity. I tried to get help, but even the people who were supposed to listen—didn’t. One therapist even laughed at my drawings. I lashed out. I felt invisible.
In my teenage years, I searched for family and found it in the streets. That led me down a path of poor decisions, especially after losing my mom. Eventually, I ended up incarcerated. But that’s where I had time to think. To breathe. To reflect. I made a decision: I was going to change. Not just for me, but for my kids.
After I got out, I completed a recovery program and was offered a job as a detox counselor. I met my wife. We built a family. I co-founded a nonprofit called Living Life After Death, and we helped feed over 500 families. But I knew I wasn’t done. I knew there were other men out there—just like me—who didn’t need judgment, they needed a lifeline.
That’s why my wife and I started Life Reset. This nonprofit gives men the support they need to rewrite their stories—through mentorship, legal support, domestic violence recovery, and more. Life Reset isn’t just an organization—it’s a movement. It’s proof that no matter how far you’ve fallen, you can rise again.
